Sawyer has been a wonderful assistant stage manager for the project and Lucy was a lifesaver to step in while Megan was gone. I would like to acknowledge the wonderful young people in this production whose good manners, strong work ethic, and overall kindness to myself and one another has truly been an example to me and has inspired me. The first time you see it, you may say to yourself, what in the world am I watching? Just sit back, toss out all of your expectations for a “classic” play, watch these amazing young performers do their thing, and let yourself go with the fun – Trust me, you’ll laugh! A lot! We have had so much fun putting this together…we have laughed a lot and hope you will, too!! I hope you get to see the show at least twice because it gets funnier each time you watch it! He is strong, courageous, romantic, a capable leader, and oh, so likable! In this completely off-the-wall production, we get a completely different spin on this story, along with a taste of Robin’s egotistical side! What did this experience teach me about these great literary characters? I learned that it is no accident that Robin Hood is a classic literary character who has been depicted countless times in books, movies, and adaptations of this story. When I was 18, I was lucky enough to perform the role of Maid Marian at City Rep’s historic Utah Theater. You will hear some of this music tonight along with some more untraditional selections. With laughs, romance, and plenty of arrows flying in the all-out comic adventure, it’s hard to keep a good legend down.Growing up, my mom had a major crush on Errol Flynn and loved Olivia de Havilland in the 1938 film, “The Adventures of Robin Hood.” The music from that film, written by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, has been performed by orchestras all over the world. Join up and take aim with Robin and his band of Merry Men…and Women…as they champion the underdog and fight for justice. Packed with thrills, a deep belief in social justice, and immortal characters such as Little John, Friar Tuck, and Maid Marian, this swashbuckling, rip-roaring romp through Sherwood brings back the youth in all of us.
